But despite this curse, to which many of the town's catastrophes are attributed,
Fernie has transformed itself into a prosperous, albeit smaller, tourist haven.
Best known for its ski resort with some of the deepest powder around, Fernie
is a four-season destination that also offers legendary
fishing, mountain
biking, golfing and hiking.
And while there is large-scale resort accommodations, chain restaurants and condo developments, a significant portion of Fernie remains untouched by
the modern world.
The resort town of Kimberley is located in the southeast corner of British Columbia, Canada, nestled between the Purcell and B.C. Rockies. Once known only as a simple mining town, Kimberley has transformed itself into a thriving community with a steady tourist stream. Its proximity to lakes and rivers make for some of the best fishing, canoeing and rafting in the area.
